Lafarge Africa Plc, a leading force in innovative building solutions, has launched the Freedom Plant, a cutting-edge ReadyMix concrete facility in Lekki, Lagos, marking a significant leap in bolstering local manufacturing and sustainable infrastructure. The state-of-the-art plant is poised to meet Nigeria’s soaring demand for construction materials while advancing eco-friendly practices.
Equipped with a fully automated batching system, the Freedom Plant enables seamless remote data transfer and global management through secure internet access, ensuring operational efficiency. With three silos capable of storing enough cementitious material for over two days of production, the facility significantly boosts output, enhances customer service, and ensures product availability in Nigeria’s fast-growing economy. The plant also introduces EcoCrete, a low-carbon concrete, alongside a full range of ReadyMix products and value-added solutions.
“This facility is more than a production hub; it’s a testament to our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and empowering communities through job creation,” said Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, Group Managing Director/CEO of Lafarge Africa. “The Freedom Plant strengthens our mission to build progress for people and the planet.”[](https://guardian.ng/business-services/lafarge-launches-lagos-readymix-plant/)
Strategically located to serve a five-kilometer radius, the plant complements Lafarge’s existing facilities in Oniru and Lekki Phase 2, reinforcing its footprint in Lagos while supporting expansion plans in Abuja and Port Harcourt. Derek Williamson, Head of Aggregates and ReadyMix, emphasized its role in the company’s growth strategy: “With increased capacity, we’re better equipped to deliver innovative solutions and meet rising market demands.”[](https://thesun.ng/lafarge-boosts-local-manufacturing-with-new-plant/?amp=)
Aligned with Lafarge’s sustainability goals, the Freedom Plant incorporates energy-efficient technologies and emission-reducing measures, producing eco-friendly materials that support Nigeria’s infrastructure development. The launch comes at a critical time, as Lagos drives Nigeria’s construction sector, fueled by urbanization and projects like the Lagos Light Rail and Eko Bridge upgrades.
As a member of the Holcim Group, Lafarge Africa leverages global expertise to deliver quality and innovation. With a 70% revenue surge to N268.63 billion in Q2 2025, the company continues to thrive despite economic challenges, driven by strong sales and operational efficiency. The Freedom Plant positions Lafarge to lead Nigeria’s construction industry, blending cutting-edge technology with a vision for a sustainable future.
