Jimsan Smart Agri Powers Nigeria’s Food Security with Climate-Smart Farming Innovations

Written By: Flipbz.org

Jimsan Smart Agri Limited is spearheading a transformative push in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, leveraging cutting-edge smart farming practices to bolster food production and empower smallholder farmers against climate challenges.

At the heart of Jimsan’s mission is its commitment to equipping rural farmers with high-quality inputs at zero-interest rates, tackling the twin threats of floods and drought that jeopardize yields. The company’s annual Farmers’ Field Day, held at its cluster farm in Mararrabar Jos, Kaduna, showcased these efforts, spotlighting smallholder successes and forging stronger ties across the agricultural value chain. “Farmers alone can’t adapt to climate change,” said Abubakar Saidu Dansadau, Jimsan’s Managing Director. “Our goal is to bring smart agriculture solutions that make resilience and productivity achievable for all.”

Jimsan’s approach aligns with federal initiatives, as noted by Anto Andy Ogah, deputy director at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, who praised the company for complementing nationwide input distribution programs. These efforts, already underway in Niger State and expanding, aim to deliver subsidized or interest-free resources to genuine farmers. Similarly, Dr. Hosea Yakubu, representing the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), lauded Jimsan’s role in enhancing productivity, food security, and rural livelihoods through quality inputs and extension services.

By integrating climate-smart techniques—such as resilient seeds and sustainable soil management—Jimsan is helping Nigeria’s smallholders navigate a sector strained by low technology, poor infrastructure, and climate volatility. With agriculture employing over 70% of rural Nigerians yet contributing just 22.35% to GDP, such innovations are critical to closing the productivity gap and ensuring a food-secure future.
